[Directly from Hair Make] How to choose the basic hair iron
This is a must-see for those who have various types of curling irons at home electronics retail stores and online, and who say "I don't know what to choose!" Or "I'm worried that my hair won't get damaged" even if I have a hair iron. Hair and makeup artist Yune Nemoto will answer in a Q & A format how to choose and use the correct curling iron. Part 1 is "How to choose a basic curling iron". Don't get lost in the plate width and material anymore!
Q1.When choosing a straight iron, I am at a loss even with the plate width.
A1.For shorts and bobs, the plate width is 15 mm, for longs and people with a lot of hair, 30 mm, and for various lengths, 20 mm is a guide. When I make a model's hair, I use 20mm for the back and 15mm for the bangs and sideburns, depending on where I use it. Especially when using a straight iron for your own hair, the finish will be completely different depending on how you use it. If you use a wide curling iron for small areas such as bangs and sideburns, you will not be able to apply it firmly from the root, and you can prevent burns by using it properly.
If you are new to curling irons, I think the general 20mm is easy to use.
Q2.What is the material of the plate that Mr. Nemoto would like to recommend?
A2.Personally, I recommend a ceramic plate that keeps the temperature constant. It's finished evenly and beautifully, it's slippery, and it's easy to use.
[From the beauty trip editorial department]
Hair iron plate materials, including coatings, are generally Teflon, titanium, and ceramic.
Teflon is less prone to friction and is gentle on the hair. Titanium has high durability and excellent heat conduction. Ceramic is also highly durable and slippery, and the heat does not cool down easily, so you can finish it with less hair ironing.
Areti curling irons come in 100% ceramic, ceramic coatings and titanium coatings, but in fact any material is recommended! This is because many products use high-power heaters *, and any material eliminates temperature unevenness when the hair is pinched and maintains the set temperature. I'm particular about the fact that I don't have to hit it over and over again!
* Some products do not use high power heaters.
Q3.If I have one curling iron with a size that is easy to use for any hair length, will the amount of hair bundles sandwiched at one time give a different finish?
A3. Basically, for a curl iron, make one slice about 10 cm in length, for a straight iron, make one slice about 5 to 7 cm in length, and put 2 slices of hair together.
If you want to stretch the habit of the root firmly, make it about 3 to 5 cm in length, and if you want to make it glossy even with a curling iron or straight, make it about 7 to 10 cm in length. And get closer to the ideal styling.
Use the length of the curling iron plate as a guide for the width.
Q4.Please tell me the criteria when Mr. Nemoto, who is in charge of hair making for various models, chooses a hair iron.
A4. Curling irons are work tools, so we emphasize ease of use, a feeling of pinching comfort, and glossiness. Besides, the design is also very important. I also use hair care products on a daily basis, so I choose the ones that make me feel good.
